City of Thompson Recreation Centre, Thompson, MB
The City of Thompson Community Recreation Centre Project consists of a combined field house, twin pad indoor ice hockey arena (spectator and practice rinks) and curling club linked by an indoor concourse. The overall project was approximately 21,370m2(230,000 sf.). The facility featured a two-storey atrium connecting all major activities within the new community centre – field house, indoor ice arena and curling club. The new field house featured a 200-metre indoor track area, basketball and volleyball courts, an indoor soccer pitch, spectator stands for 500, change rooms, lockers, and washroom facilities. The refurbished C.A. Nesbitt Arena included an expanded ice surface area, new spectator seating for 1500 and a new exterior wall assembly. New change room facilities and a new ice plant link the C.A. Nesbitt Arena with the Gordon Beard Arena.
